An Entertaining Feast——2009 New Year’s Party Held by The May Flower English Club

         After a long time preparations and efforts by hard working club members, the New Year’s party of The May Flower English Club was held on December 28^th, 2008, on the 10^th floor meeting room of the CIQ Bureau.

 

    经过五月花成员长期准备和共同努力，五月花新年晚会于2008年12月28日在检验检疫局10楼会议厅举行。

        In the beginning, the club president John delivered a speech to all the attendances of the party. During the speech, John summarized Mayflower English Club’s path in the past year and expressed his gratitude to all the members for their supports to the club. The performance started with the “Good Luck Comes”, a dancing performed by students from Zhejiang Maritime College, expressing the club’s best wishes to the club members and other attendances. Subsequently, there are also chorus, magical show, male duetto, calabash flute performance and a post-modern drama contributed by club members and college students. The foreign teacher Gregg from Zhejiang Ocean University shared with audiences some Christmas and New Year stories and excellent pieces of music.

    晚会一开始，俱乐部主任约翰致辞，他总结了五月花过去一年的所取得的成就，并感谢大家对五月花的支持与厚爱。晚会由浙江海运职业技术学院学生演出的舞蹈“好运来”拉开序幕，表达了俱乐部对其成员和参与者的良好祝愿。晚会节目丰富多彩，俱乐部成员及海运海洋学院学生有合唱，魔术表演，男声二重唱，葫芦丝演奏，喜剧小品等，浙江海洋学院外籍教师格莱格请一起欣赏他带来的圣诞及新年音乐。

        Apart from performances, there are also audience interactive activities, which largely warmed up the atmosphere of the party. At the intervals of performances, the organizer has prepared small quizzes for the party audiences. The winner would be awarded with a small gift prepared by the club. As a customary practice, the lucky draw with generous gifts is also an eye-catching part of the party. Finally, the club member Hu Yiming from the CIQ Bureau has won the first prize.

    除了文艺表演，晚上还安排了观众互动节目，从而极大地活跃了晚会的气氛。在节目间隙穿插些知识竞猜，获胜者可以获得俱乐部准备的小礼品。幸运抽奖也是晚会最吸引眼球的部分，其中的头等奖被俱乐部会员胡一鸣获取。

        After a beautiful poem reciting by a student from Donghai Middle School, the New Year Party reaches his end. People left the party with joy and satisfaction. Due to the club member’s detailed plan and hard work, the party turned out to be a great success, bring an entertaining feast to Zhoushan English lovers at the end of year 2008.

    最后，一位来自东海中学的学生即兴自告奋勇的表演了诗朗诵，把晚会引向尾声。大家带着欢乐和满足感散场。由于会员们周密的计划和勤奋工作，晚会确实办得很成功，给本市的英语爱好者们奉献了2008年终一道脍炙人口的大餐。
