On December 30th, 2009, the new year party of Mayflower English Club was held as scheduled. Over 40 club members and guests attended this big event to embrace the year 2010.
Different from the new year parties organized by the club in the previous years, this one focuses on the exchanges of ideas between the club members. In year 2010, the mayflower English club is expecting her 5 year birthday. Therefore many attendants has expressed their best wishes to the future of the club and have provided a lot of constructive suggestions for the club development as well as the arrangement for its fifth anniversary celebration. These will prove valuable for our club’s work in the coming year 2010.
Meanwhile, the new year party has prepared some small Q&A, helping people have a brief review of what have happened all around world in the past year. In 2009, our club, as well as the whole world, suffered losses and gained hopes at the same time. Looking back to the past and learning from experiences will be a great boost to our future.
During
the party, many attendants offered amazing performances, including singing, guitar, poem, etc. These performances are all contributed by volunteers without any preparation ahead of time. Although they may not be excellently performed, they showed our club members’ talents and their enthusiasm towards our beloved spiritual home---the Mayflower English Club. With so many warm-hearted and gifted club members, our club is certain to make even greater achievements.
The Mayflower English Club new year party continued for more than two hours before it ended. This is a good beginning for our English club’s development.
本次晚會不同于以往，側重于俱樂部成員之間的相互交流。由于2010年五月花俱樂部將迎來她的五周歲生日，因此在談話間，許多會員表達了他們對五月花的良好祝愿，并對五月花今后的發展和明年五月花五周年慶祝的安排提出了很多很寶貴的意見。這些寶貴的意見和建議對我們明年來說將是一筆巨大的財富。
此次五月花新年晚會，組織方還為會員和嘉賓們準備了趣味問答，以回顧過去一年中五月花英語俱樂部和世界上發生的大事。過去的2009年中，五月花英語俱樂部和我們的這個世界都既有曲折，又收獲了希望，通過回顧歷史、總結經驗，我們希望能夠對我們將來的工作有較大的裨益。
晚會過程中，很多人還主動表演了節目，如唱歌、吉他演奏、英語詩朗誦等等。這些節目完全是我們的俱樂部成員自發的，沒有經過事先準備，雖然略顯簡單，卻展示出了我們的俱樂部成員對才智和對五月花這個他們的精神家園的愛。有那么多有愛又有才的會員們，我們有理由相信我們在2010年能夠取得更大的成就。
晚會全程持續了將近兩個小時，取得了成功，標志了俱樂部明年發展的良好開端。

The Opinion Form Regarding the Mayflower delivered during the Mayflower English Club has already been properly collected and studied after the party ended. There are 23 forms have been taken back from the party attendants and the statistic figures reflected in the opinion poll are as follows:

Nearly all of the respondents declared that they know about the Mayflower English club from friends.

15 out of 23 respondents thought the activities of Mayflower English Club are satisfactory. The rest 7 believed chose “Just so so”.
總共23名受訪者中，15人表示對五月花目前組織的一些活動表示滿意。剩余的七名認為目前五月花的活動一般。
3. Do you think it beneficial to come to the Mayflower so as to improve our oral English?
17 out of 23 respondents hold that coming to Mayflower is beneficial. The rest 6 respondents chose the option “not so beneficial as I imagine”.
總共23名受訪者中，17人認為來五月花對提高他們的英語口語有幫助，剩余的6名，表示與他們之前的期望相差較大。
4. Would you like to recommend Mayflower to your friends?
19 out of 23 respondents showed their interests to recommend Mayflower English Club to their friends. And the rest 4 said they are likely to do so.

5. Would you like to be one of the volunteers of the Mayflower Club?
16 respondents are willing to become volunteers of the Mayflower English Club.

6. The suggested activities that Mayflower is expected to organize:
“Inviting English experts to give speeches”, “going out for travel” and “having outdoor activities” are the most popular options for the respondents, with 11 components each. There are 7 people chose “group discussion” and “English games”. 4 people are interested in “contests of any kind”.

Generally speaking, people’s opinion’s about the Mayflower English Club is positive. However, due to difficulties that we have encountered last year, the club was on the low tide in 2009. Therefore, many people are not quite satisfactory about the organization and our club’s role in English studying. Fortunately, we still have a lot of enthusiastic club members who are willing to contribute to the club. In year 2010, our club will continue to work for the club members and try our best to bring more for our club members.
總體來說，受訪者對五月花英語俱樂部的印象是積極地。但是由于我們在去年遇到了各種困難，俱樂部的發展處于低潮期。因此，部分受訪者對俱樂部組織和在英語學習中的作用表示不夠滿意。所幸我們的廣大成員對俱樂部還懷有激情，并且愿意為俱樂部的發展做出自己的貢獻。2010年我們將繼續為我們的會員們服務，并盡我們的全力為我們的會員們貢獻更多。
